19 - 21 Jan 2026, Bhaktapur, Nepal

Keynote Speaker

Professor Nobuo Takai, affiliated to Urban Disaster Protection Planning Laboratory, Division of Architecture and Structural Design, Hokkaido University, Japan specializes in seismology and ground-motion analysis. He earned his MS and PhD in Architecture and Structural Design from the Graduate School of Engineering, Hokkaido University.

Professor Takai's research is primarily focused on strong ground motion, ground vibration, and urban disaster prevention. His work includes evaluation of long-period ground motion using advanced waveform inverse analysis, the development of design input ground motion specialized for moderate earthquakes, and comprehensive investigations of major seismic events in Japan, Nepal, and Turkey. His expertise also encompasses the study of ambient vibrations, seasonal variation of site amplification in cold climates, and ground-motion prediction equations tailored to sedimentary basins. He has led numerous competitive research projects and holds important positions on various committees within prominent professional societies.
